Ehsaas International and DLSA conducted one day seminar on World Water Day on 22nd of March 2021 at ADR centre, District Court Complex Srinagar. During the event Ab. Rashid Malik Principal District & Sessions Judge Srinagar ‘Chief Guest’ in his address note emphasised the value of water as a basic/essential necessity of life. He also added, to report to the concerned authorities wherever we see a faulty water resources which we usually ignore which will help to preserve water. He impressed on more rigorous awareness among masses for water harvesting which can help us to save water gor future generations.
Mr. Syed Tabasum Geelani, chairman Ehsaas Trust International gave a video presentation showcases the activities of the trust oriented initiatives at providing clean drinking water to people of various areas of kashmir valley where the masses suffering badly for water. He also moderated demonstrations of Tippy Tap, an initiative of handwashing technique for children by which they playfully wash their hands with 75percent less consumption of water used in regular manner. Tippy Tap presentation were given a team of students from various Winter Coaching Centres of the trust.
All the participants of the event pledged to take steps for preservation of water starting with the common day to day activities like to keep a tap closed while brushing their teeth which can save 92percent of water.
Among speakers, Syed Mujtaba, Child Rights Lawyer IMHANS UNICEF Kashmir said that the world is facing currently multiple pandemics one among those is water born diseases and water scarcity. There are 1000 deaths reported daily throughout the world by this pandemic.
Asiya Jan (student Winter Coaching Centre run by Ehsaas), in her speech related the water cycle with the ozone depletion. Muttahir Hussain student Winter Coaching Centre gave a beutiful presentation of afforestation and it’s importance to preserve water. Another student of Winter Coaching Centre namely Shahida Hussain thrust upon the value of water for biotic as well as abiotic component of the environment.
Among speakers Er. Sheikh Adil DSP traffic Srinagar, kifayat Hussain(Environmentalist), Suhaila Ali (Panel Lawyer ) , also spoke on the occasion.
The event was moderated by Mr.Syed Adnan Secretary DLSA, while addressing the event he emphasized that there is more need to organise awareness programs among masses regarding the importance and preservation of water as it is a basic requirement for existence of life. He also appreciated the support of the organisations like Ehsaas Trust International and invited all other organisations, institutions to come forward and play their role.
