TARUSHIKHA SARVESH
Assistant Professor, Centre for Women’s Studies
ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY

while I was in Kashmir for the fieldwork related to my project centred around the lives of women and youth in Kashmir, one of the best interactions I had was with the members of Ehsaas International. In my observation Ehsaas is doing a commendable humanitarian work under great constraints because of the prevailing situation in Kashmir. The leadership that Mr Hakim Ilyas has provided to his team and his organisation is really motivational. The work done especially during the COVID period in the face of restrictions in mobility and supply chain, Ehsaas continued to reach out in dissemination of essentials and other requirements. This organisation seems to have a very clear understanding for the ground realities in Kashmir both in terms of statistics and purpose, which helps them to really reach out to the needy in the best manner. Another stand out of Ehsaas is that it provides a healthy and inspirational work space for women. The women I met at Ehsaas came across as proud volunteers wanting to propagate Ehsaas’s cause. I wish the organisation every success.

MANZOOR GOHRI
Chairman, IMRC USA

IMRC has been working with Ehsaas International Since 2015. Post floods when we decided to work in Kashmir, we approached several organizations to implement our relief program but short listed only Ehsaas. Since then we are continuously working and have successfully completed various projects. Ehsaas has been instrumental for identifying poor meritorious students from Kashmir who were enrolled in our Engineering College (Jahangirabad Institute of Technology) on scholarship basis. Post floods, we were able to re-build few houses and dug 50 tube-wells in water scarcity areas of Kashmir. This year we also participated in one of the wonderful project under taken by Ehsaas Trust i.e. Winter Coaching Centre for downtrodden rural Kashmir. I personally got a chance to visit these centres and took a feel.  IMRC paid portion of honorarium, to teachers involved in these centers. The kids studying in these winter coaching centers belong to very poor families whose parents are not even motivated to support their kids for education. We provided “Stationary Kits” to keep them motivated. IMRC provided Relief Package for Kashmir after getting distress reports from volunteers on ground post political turmoil followed by harsh winters that witnessed untimely heavy snowfall. Ration kits and pherans were distributed among 3000 families who were the primary sufferers of lockdown and winter brunt. Indian Muslim Relief & Charities (IMRC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization which began in 1981. We are located at Independence Ave. Mountain View California USA. We work year round to assess the needs of Muslims and minorities in poverty struck areas of India and develop projects based on their needs. We have a dedicated team, visionary leaders and over 100 organizations on site in India to improve social structures and economic opportunities so minorities & Muslims in India can have the opportunity to reach their full potential, contribute to society, have a voice in decisions that affect them and live and work in dignity.
